And finally, i solved the mystery of the laughing statcounter. Taking a hint from my bradder’s comment that it was the ad banner, i focused my attention on the top banner each time I log in. Indeed! I caught the poltergeist yesterday. It was the ’smiley’s’ ad banner. The new ’smileys’ comes with sound effect now! Phew. for a few days, i thought my pc had been possessed.

That solved, let’s get back to some ’serious’ discussions about the recent shut up order to all bloggers. Now this order had sort of caused a turmoil in the sphere. It has caused a giant dilemma amongst the more outspoken ones. Should they write or should they not write. Maybe we should all take up law. Or at least consult a lawyer about the consequences of writing such and such. Anyway, what does ’sensitive issues’ constitute? One man’s meat is another man’s poison. Sensitivity is so very subjective. My Malay friends always shouts,

"Oi! Cina Kui! Mari minum!" whenever they pass by my shop on their way to the mamak stall. I would shout back’

"Pegi lah! Melayu! Gua sudah minum lu baru pangill!"

Is that a sensitive issue? Am I causing racial disharmony here? I thought we were good friends who understood each other well enough to make these ’sensitive’ jokes. And what about some of my closer Indian friends whom I address as ‘Keling Kui’. Will I get sued now? Will I be taken to eat curry rice? I mean, it’s only i figure of speech. It’s up to how the listener wants to depict it. By accepting what we called each other means we are close friends who understands each other. I think we should emphasise more on this culture rather than asking people to be ’sensitive’.

Don’t actually know when all these ‘holier-than-thou’ attitude started. If we watch those old P.Ramlee movies, we notice that back then, they were no such nonsense. The great P.Ramlee always projected a truly multi cultural society in a lot of his films. He poked fun at different races without a tinge of prejudice and every race loved it. So why all these issues now? Is it because we are more knowledgeable now? Is it because of our education? Or maybe it’s just because we simply lacked both.
